Who are our Hardy Kids?
The students of The Hardy Center reflect the strength, resilience, and brilliance of the Linden community. In a neighborhood where literacy rates remain below state averages, and many families face economic hardship, our students show up every day ready to grow. More than 90% of our students identify as Black, and many come from households working hard to overcome systemic barriers. Their stories are powerful, and so is their potential.
While many local schools continue to face challenges in literacy and academic performance, our students are building a different story. With targeted tutoring and intentional instruction, 90% of our students meet or exceed grade-level proficiency.
We are shaping Hardy Kids who read with confidence, write with purpose, think critically, and show up ready to lead. Through consistent mentorship, high expectations, and a culture of accountability, our students are not defined by statistics. They are defined by growth, discipline, character, and belief in their future.
Hardy Kids work hard. They support one another. They take ownership of their learning. With structure, opportunity, and community behind them, they do more than meet expectations. They rise above them.

The Hardy Center serves families in the Linden community of Columbus, one of the most historic Black communities in Franklin County. While many families face economic hardship and systemic barriers, they are defined by resilience, commitment, and deep care for their children.
We believe in a coalition of the willing. Families, staff, and community partners working together to ensure students succeed. Through consistent communication and partnership with a dedicated family advocate, parents are kept informed, connected to resources, and empowered to become strong advocates for their children’s education.

Our work extends beyond students and families. We are deeply rooted in the Linden community of Columbus, building partnerships that strengthen the neighborhood as a whole. We actively connect families to local resources, support services, and community organizations to ensure they have access to the tools they need to thrive.
Through initiatives like the Hardy HOPE Garden, students learn responsibility, sustainability, and the value of caring for something that gives back. The garden is more than a green space. It is a hands-on classroom and a symbol of growth.
We also create opportunities many of our students might not otherwise experience. From summer enrichment and extracurricular activities to leadership development and creative exploration, our students are exposed to new skills, new environments, and new possibilities.
We are not just supporting children. We are investing in a stronger, more connected Linden community.
